Varak: Foil Invitation Maker
Support
Questions, bugs and feature requests for Varak go to cihatsalik1@gmail.com. Varak is made by one person, so a clear description — your device, the card format and a screenshot or a shimmer video — gets a fix out fastest.
Email supportWhat is free, and what does Varak Pro open?
Free: three projects, the whole editor and the Foil Studio, stills at screen size with no watermark, and 1080p video at 30 fps with a small "Made with Varak" end card. Pro removes the project limit and the end card, and adds 4K and 60 fps video, the PDF/X-4 print export, the holographic and onyx foil family, and the brand kit. Monthly, yearly, or one lifetime payment.
The foil does not move when I tilt the phone.
Two things stop it. With Reduce Motion on in Accessibility settings, Varak holds the lighting still on purpose — drag the card instead and the same tilt applies. On a Mac running the iPad app there are no motion sensors, so dragging is the only path. If neither applies, the card may be in an editing mode that pins the light; open full-screen Preview.
Will the gold actually print as gold?
Only if the printer stamps real foil, which is what the print export is built for. PDF/X-4 writes each foil as its own named spot plate — FOIL, EMBOSS, GLOSS — alongside the CMYK artwork, which is the file a foil-stamping printer needs. A screen render of foil sent to an inkjet prints as grey; that is true of every app, and it is why the plates exist.
What is Preflight flagging, and can I ignore it?
It checks the rules a foil die imposes: a minimum feature size of 0.25 mm, foil running off the trim (dies cannot reliably bleed), and foil whose luminance sits too close to the paper's — silver on white, for instance. You can ignore any of it and export anyway; two of the bundled templates deliberately bleed foil because they are made for a screen. For a card going to a printer, clear it first.
Which video should I export for Instagram or WhatsApp?
Four tilt paths ship: Tilt loop, Sweep, Turntable, and Card opens for folded formats. Pick 9:16 for stories and 4:5 or 1:1 for a feed, four to fifteen seconds. 1080p at 30 fps is free; 4K at 60 fps is Pro. The loop is seamless, so a short one reads better than a long one.
Can I use my own logo or artwork as the foil?
Yes. Add it as a picture layer and open the Foil Studio on it: the "A colour" mode picks out one ink — your logo's — and turns exactly that into foil, which is the usual route for a business card. Details, Shadows, Subject and Outline cover photographs, and Paint lets you brush the foil in by hand with Apple Pencil.
Does Varak send anything over the network?
No. The app contains no networking code at all — no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporter. It reads only the photos you hand it through the system picker, and the motion readings that light the foil are used for the current frame and then discarded. Version 1.0 keeps its library on the device; iCloud sync is not enabled.
How do I report a bug in Varak?
Email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with your device model, iOS or macOS version, the app version shown in Settings, and the steps that produce the problem. A screenshot or screen recording makes it far quicker to fix.
How do I restore a purchase?
Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that made them. Sign in with that Apple ID, open the purchase screen in the app and use Restore. If the restore does not complete, email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with the date of purchase.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are issued by Apple, not by the developer. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" page at reportaproblem.apple.com, or the refund flow in the App Store.
