VoxPage: Read Aloud PDF Reader
Support
Questions, bugs and feature requests for VoxPage go to cihatsalik1@gmail.com. VoxPage is made by one person, so a clear description — your device, the language and voice you were listening with, and the file itself where a document read badly — gets a fix out fastest.
Email supportDoes VoxPage work without an internet connection?
Yes, with one condition. Turkish is read by a neural voice bundled inside the app, so it works offline from the first launch with nothing to download. Every other language uses a voice that iOS has installed on the device, so install the voice you want once (Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices), and from then on VoxPage reads offline. Text extraction, OCR and the training exercises never need a connection at all.
The voice sounds robotic. How do I fix it?
iOS ships a compact default voice for most languages, and that is the one that sounds mechanical. Open Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices, pick your language and download an Enhanced or Premium voice. VoxPage always prefers Premium, then Enhanced, and only falls back to the compact voice when nothing better is installed. Turkish is not affected: it uses the app's own neural voice.
Which languages can VoxPage read?
Sixteen: English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Dutch and Polish. The language of a document is detected automatically, and you can override it. Training passages and comprehension questions, however, are written in Turkish and English only.
My PDF is a scan and nothing is read. What now?
A scanned PDF has no text layer, so VoxPage recognises the page with on-device OCR before reading it. Recognition quality follows the scan: a sharp, straight, well-lit page works well, a photographed page at an angle does not. Complex magazine layouts and footnotes are also imperfect — layout ordering handles one or two columns, and footnotes are not separated from the body text. If a specific file reads badly, email it to cihatsalik1@gmail.com.
Can I import a book I bought from Apple Books or Kindle?
No. Those files are DRM-protected, and VoxPage contains no code to remove copy protection. Unprotected EPUB, PDF, Word (DOCX), RTF, Markdown, HTML and plain text files import normally, through the Files app, the share sheet, or "Open in VoxPage" from another app.
Does listening count against my reading speed?
No. They are measured separately on purpose. Listening time is tracked only for the daily allowance and the Insights chart. Reading speed comes from the Speed Test, where you read a passage yourself and then answer comprehension questions, and the two results are charted apart from each other so a faster pace cannot hide a weaker one.
Are the eye-movement drills eye training?
No. They are focus warm-ups. They do not diagnose, treat or prevent anything, and transfer to ordinary reading is not guaranteed. If you have a concern about your eyes, attention or reading, see a professional rather than an app.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Imported files, extracted text, reading position, bookmarks, notes, collections and training results are stored locally; preferences live in the app's own settings. VoxPage has no account, no backend and no analytics SDK, and it makes no network requests of its own — the only traffic it causes goes through Apple's App Store for purchases. Settings › Erase All Data removes everything.
What is free, and what does VoxPage Premium open?
Free: the reader and all five themes you need to use it, a library of up to 15 documents, 30 minutes of speech a day, search, table of contents, up to 20 bookmarks per document, three collections, the Speed Test, Word Flash, Guided Reading on the built-in passages, Schulte tables up to 5×5, the default training plan and the last 14 days of Insights. Premium lifts the library and daily listening limits and adds the Sage and Dusk themes, unlimited bookmarks and collections, eye-movement drills, Schulte 6×6 and 7×7, Guided Reading on your own documents, a custom daily goal and practice days, your full history, CSV export and three more accent colours. It is offered monthly, or yearly with a one-week free trial.
How do I report a bug in VoxPage?
Email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with your device model, iOS or macOS version, the app version shown in Settings, and the steps that produce the problem. A screenshot or screen recording makes it far quicker to fix.
How do I restore a purchase?
Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that made them. Sign in with that Apple ID, open the purchase screen in the app and use Restore. If the restore does not complete, email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with the date of purchase.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are issued by Apple, not by the developer. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" page at reportaproblem.apple.com, or the refund flow in the App Store.
