VoxPage: Read Aloud PDF Reader

Privacy Policy

VoxPage has no account, no backend and no analytics SDK. Your documents, the text read out of them, your reading history and your training results stay on your device, and the app makes no network requests of its own.

Overview

This privacy policy applies to the VoxPage app (the "Application") for iOS on iPhone and iPad, created by Cihat SALIK (the "Service Provider"). The Application is offered as a service and is intended for use "AS IS".

VoxPage reads documents out loud, follows the speech with a highlight in the reader, and trains reading speed. Everything it needs to do that — reading the file, recognising scanned text, producing the speech and scoring your training — happens on your device.

Your Documents and Reading Data

A document you import is copied into the Application's own storage on the device, together with the text extracted from it, its structure and its table of contents. Your reading position, favourites, bookmarks, notes, collections, training sessions (speed, comprehension and duration), daily listening time and preferences (theme, speed, voice, plan and reminder time) are stored on the device as well.

None of it is uploaded to the Service Provider's servers or to any third-party service. There is no account, so the Service Provider cannot see, retrieve or delete what you read. Content files are written with iOS file protection, and folders left behind by an interrupted import are cleaned up at launch.

Speech

Turkish is read by a neural voice whose model is bundled inside the Application and runs on the device. Every other language is read by Apple's speech synthesiser using a voice that iOS has already installed on the device, and the Application prefers a Premium or Enhanced voice over the compact default.

Your document text goes to these on-device engines and nowhere else. No text is sent to a speech service, and no generated audio is uploaded or stored on a server. Downloading a system voice is something you start yourself in iOS Settings; that download is between your device and Apple and carries no document content.

Text Extraction and Scanned Pages

PDF, EPUB, Word (DOCX), RTF, Markdown, HTML and plain text are parsed on the device. When a PDF has no text layer, the Application recognises the page with Apple's Vision framework, which also runs on the device. The language of a document is detected locally with Apple's natural language framework.

Nothing is uploaded for processing, and the Application contains no code to remove DRM or copy protection from any file.

Notifications

A notification is requested only when you switch on the practice reminder, and it is scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, so the Service Provider cannot send you a message and does not learn whether you opened one.

Analytics, Advertising, and Accounts

The Application contains no analytics or tracking SDK, no crash-reporting service and no advertising, and it requires no account. It makes no network requests of its own: the only traffic it causes goes through Apple's StoreKit for purchases and restores, and through iOS itself when you choose to download a voice. Its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

If analytics or similar tools are added in a future version, this policy will be updated to describe them before that version ships, and they would be opt-in and off by default.

Backups

If you have iCloud Backup or a local device backup switched on, the Application's data is included in that backup the same way every other app's data is. That backup is between your device and Apple; the Service Provider has no access to it.

Purchases

VoxPage is free to download and use within the free limits. VoxPage Premium — an unlimited library, unlimited daily listening, the extra reader themes, unlimited bookmarks and collections, the advanced training exercises, a custom plan, full history, CSV export and the extra accent colours — is offered monthly, or yearly with a one-week free trial. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Service Provider does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple's handling of purchases, renewals and restores is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

Your Rights Over Your Data

Because the data is on your device, you control it directly. Deleting a document removes its original file, its extracted text and its bookmarks. Insights lets you delete your training history. Settings › Erase All Data removes everything the Application stores, and deleting the Application removes its data from the device.

Copyright of Imported Material

You are responsible for having the right to read, store and extract text from anything you import. The Application refuses DRM-protected files by design.

Children

The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through VoxPage. The Application stores everything on the device, requires no account and sends nothing to the Service Provider.

If you believe information was collected from a child inappropriately, contact the Service Provider at cihatsalik1@gmail.com.

Security

The security of your on-device library depends on your device passcode and biometric settings. The Service Provider recommends keeping iOS up to date and using the device security features offered by Apple.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and the "Last updated" information where shown. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
