Afterglow: Long Exposure Cam
Support
Questions, bugs and feature requests for Afterglow go to cihatsalik1@gmail.com. Afterglow is made by one person, so a clear description — your device, the mode and exposure length, whether it was on a tripod, and the photo itself — gets a fix out fastest.
Email supportDo I need a tripod?
For anything over a few seconds, yes. Afterglow aligns frames where it can, and Night Handheld is built for shooting without support, but Star Trails, Stars & Milky Way, Moon & Planets and long Silky Water exposures need the phone held still. Each mode says whether it wants a tripod, and the stability meter on the viewfinder tells you when the phone is steady enough to start.
Why does Afterglow ask for my location?
Only for the Tonight planner, which calculates golden hour, blue hour, the dark-sky window and moonrise and moonset for where you are. The calculation runs on the device and the coordinate is never sent anywhere. Deny the permission and everything else works; the planner simply has nothing to compute from.
Why is a capture so large, and can I get the space back?
Because Afterglow keeps the source frames. That is what makes re-blending possible after the exposure has ended — a different blend, a different strength, a different start and end point. The result screen shows how much a capture is holding. Discarding the frames from the library keeps the finished photo and frees the space, but that capture can no longer be re-blended.
Can I still re-blend a capture tomorrow?
Yes, as long as its frames are still there. Open the capture in the library and the re-blend editor offers every blend the frames support, plus the strength slider, trimming and the tone controls. A capture whose frames were discarded opens as a finished photo you can still grade and export.
What exactly does RAW/DNG export give me?
A linear DNG built from the accumulated result, for editing in Lightroom, Darkroom or anything else that reads DNG. It is an export of the blended exposure, not a raw frame straight off the sensor, so the long exposure is already baked in — what you get back is the headroom to grade it properly. RAW/DNG export is a Pro feature.
What is free, and what does Afterglow Pro open?
Free: Light Trails, Silky Water, Motion Blur and Fireworks, with no watermark and no limit on how many photos you take, plus one grade in each of the six look families and full-resolution HEIC and JPEG export. Pro opens the other fourteen modes, re-blending after capture, the whole grade library, RAW/DNG export, 4K timelapse video, the manual exposure panel and the Tonight planner. It is sold as a one-time Lifetime unlock or an annual subscription with a one-week free trial, both with Family Sharing.
How do I report a bug in Afterglow?
Email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with your device model, iOS or macOS version, the app version shown in Settings, and the steps that produce the problem. A screenshot or screen recording makes it far quicker to fix.
How do I restore a purchase?
Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that made them. Sign in with that Apple ID, open the purchase screen in the app and use Restore. If the restore does not complete, email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with the date of purchase.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are issued by Apple, not by the developer. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" page at reportaproblem.apple.com, or the refund flow in the App Store.
