Tessera: QR Code Scanner

Support

Questions, bugs and feature requests for Tessera go to cihatsalik1@gmail.com. Tessera is made by one person, so a clear description — your device, whether it was scanning or designing, and a screenshot or the code itself — gets a fix out fastest.

Does Tessera send anything over the network?

Almost never, and never on its own. Scanning, decoding, the link-safety checks, the designer, the scannability check and every export run entirely on your device. There is no account, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter and no ads. The single exception is "Reveal destination" on a shortened link: only when you tap it does the app ask that shortener where the link points, using a cookie-less ephemeral session, and it does not follow the redirect. That request goes to the shortener, not to us.

What does the safe-link preview actually check?

Before you open anything, the result card shows the link's real registrable domain. It flags punycode lookalikes (decoding the real characters for you), known URL shorteners, plain http pages, and payment or App Store deep links. All of it is computed on-device from the text of the code. It is a warning layer, not a malware scanner — the decision to open a link stays yours.

The scanner shows "scan from photo" instead of the camera.

That is the Simulator fallback: iOS does not support the live data scanner there. On a real iPhone or iPad the viewfinder opens directly. If it does not, check Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera › Tessera.

Will my QR code stop working if I cancel Pro or delete the app?

No. Tessera only writes static codes: the data lives inside the code itself, with no server in the middle. A printed menu, poster or business card keeps scanning forever, whether or not you still have the app or a subscription. This is the opposite of a dynamic QR service, where the code dies the moment the billing stops.

My design says "Won't scan". What do I fix?

The check renders your design at 512 px, decodes it with Vision and compares the payload, then looks at WCAG contrast between the modules and the background and at how much of the code your logo covers. Usually one of three things: the modules are too close in luminance to the background, the logo is too large for the error-correction level, or a texture is washing out the modules. The card tells you which, and a logo automatically raises error correction to High.

Which export should I use for a printer?

SVG or PDF — both are vector, so the code stays sharp at any size. PNG is fine for screens and for anything you place at a fixed size. The ready-made layouts (A4 and Letter posters, table tents, 5 cm stickers) already carry sensible quiet zones; if you place a code yourself, leave the 4-module quiet zone around it intact.

What is free, and what does Tessera Pro open?

The scanner, the safe-link preview, history, and basic codes — the classic square style, solid colors and PNG export — are free forever. Pro unlocks the premium styles, textures and gradients, logos, frames, SVG and PDF export, the templates, CSV batch generation, more than three folders and more than one widget code. It is offered weekly with a 3-day free trial, annually, or as one lifetime payment.

How do I report a bug in Tessera?

Email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with your device model, iOS or macOS version, the app version shown in Settings, and the steps that produce the problem. A screenshot or screen recording makes it far quicker to fix.

How do I restore a purchase?

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID that made them. Sign in with that Apple ID, open the purchase screen in the app and use Restore. If the restore does not complete, email cihatsalik1@gmail.com with the date of purchase.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are issued by Apple, not by the developer. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" page at reportaproblem.apple.com, or the refund flow in the App Store.

If Tessera: QR Code Scanner is your kind of thing, these live in the same neighbourhood — all made by the same pair of hands.
