ReadPace: Speed Reading & RSVP — Terms of Use

ReadPace is a reading application for iOS (iPhone and iPad) offered by Cihat SALIK ("we," "us," or "our"). It is a speed-reading app and reading trainer for content you bring yourself: it imports your documents and web articles, reads them back in four paced modes, measures your reading speed and comprehension separately, and offers nine training exercises with progress tracking. Part of the App is free to use; the rest is unlocked by ReadPace Pro. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your country to consent to use of the App) to use the App. If you are under 18, you should use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.

3.1 What is free

Your whole library, importing every supported format, Page reading with no limit, the baseline assessment, 15 minutes of paced reading each day, four of the nine exercises, your basic history, the accessibility themes, and export and deletion of your data. No account is required and there is no time limit on the free tier.

3.2 Plans

• Monthly: an auto-renewable subscription.

• Yearly: an auto-renewable subscription, with a one-week free trial shown before purchase.

• Lifetime: a non-consumable one-time purchase. Paid once, it is not a subscription — nothing renews and nothing is billed again.

Any of them opens unlimited paced reading, the full training curriculum, detailed progress, study tools, collections, iCloud sync, page scanning and the Warm Paper and Dusk reader themes. The exact contents of each plan are described in the App and on its App Store product page and may change as the App develops.

3.3 Billing and Renewal (subscriptions only)

• A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel before the end of the current period.

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase and at each renewal.

• Prices are in the currency of your App Store region and may change with notice to the extent allowed by Apple's policies and applicable law.

• Any free trial converts into a paid period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends.

3.4 Cancellation and Refunds

• Cancellation: You may turn off auto-renewal at any time in your device Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions, then select ReadPace and turn off renewal. Cancellation stops future charges but does not refund the current period.

• Refunds: Refund requests are handled by Apple, not by us. Use Apple's "Report a Problem" page or the refund flow in the App Store. We do not control Apple's refund decisions.

3.5 Restore and Access After Pro Ends

The lifetime purchase is non-consumable and can be restored on your other devices signed in with the same Apple Account using Restore Purchases. When a subscription expires or is cancelled, access to the unlocked features ends at the close of the paid period and the App returns to the free tier. Your library, reading history and training results are not deleted and remain available; paced reading returns to the free daily allowance.

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.

• Infringe or misuse the intellectual property or other rights of us or any third party. You are responsible for holding the right to read, store and extract text from anything you import, and for respecting the licence of any book, document or article you bring in.

• Circumvent digital rights management or copy protection on any file. The App refuses DRM-protected books by design and contains no code to remove copy protection.

• Transmit harmful, offensive, or illegal content, or use the App to harass or harm others.

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code of the App (except as allowed by mandatory law).

• Circumvent or abuse purchase, subscription, access control, or security features.

• Use the App to build a similar or competing product or service.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.

Your content: You keep all rights you already hold in the documents, articles, highlights and notes you bring into or create in the App. We claim no rights in them and we do not need a licence to them, because they stay on your device.

On-device operation: Your library, extracted text, reading position, session history and exercise results are stored on your device. Text extraction, paced reading, scoring and progress are computed on the device.

iCloud sync: Sync is off until you turn it on. When it is on, your data syncs through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit; we operate no server and have no access to it.

Network use: The App fetches a web page only when you paste its link or share it to the App, so it can extract the article text. It makes no other network requests of its own.

Export and deletion: You can export your library, sessions and exercise results as JSON, clear your history, or delete everything the App stores. Neither export nor deletion requires a purchase.

Privacy: Collection and use of your data are described in our Privacy Policy at https://apps.cihat.dev/readpace/privacy-policy/. By using the App, you also agree to that policy.

The App (including its design, code, reading engine, exercises, lessons, bundled reading passages, text, graphics, and the "ReadPace" name and branding) is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to our trademarks or other IP except the limited right to use the App as permitted here.

The reading passages, comprehension questions and lessons shipped with the App are original material written for ReadPace. They may be read and used inside the App. They may not be extracted, redistributed, republished or resold as content in their own right.

The App is an educational and training tool, not a medical device and not a treatment. The visual tracking and visual span exercises are focus warm-ups: they are not eye therapy and they do not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. We make no promise about how much your reading speed or comprehension will improve, and transfer from any exercise to ordinary reading is not guaranteed.

Reading speed, comprehension scores and trends shown in the App are measurements of your own sessions in the App, not a certified assessment of your reading ability. If you have a concern about your eyes, attention or reading, consult a qualified professional rather than relying on the App.

The App is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any particular purpose.

Text extraction depends on the file you import. Complex layouts, scans and unusual PDFs may produce imperfect text, and the App's PDF cleanup may remove or keep material you would have chosen differently.

We are not responsible for any loss of content (for example, imported documents, highlights, notes or history) due to device failure, user action, iCloud problems, or other causes. You are responsible for backing up your content as you see fit, for example by using the App's JSON export and keeping your original files.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• We (and our affiliates and suppliers) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App or inability to use it.

• Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the App or these Terms shall not exceed the amount you actually paid us for the App and subscriptions in the twelve (12) months before the claim (or, if no payment, zero).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you; in that case our liability is limited to the greatest extent allowed by law.

We may update the App from time to time, including its features and purchase options. Where required by law, we will notify you of material changes to the service or to subscription terms.

We may change these Terms. We will post the updated Terms at https://apps.cihat.dev/readpace/terms-of-use/ and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after the change constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the App and may cancel your subscription as described in 3.4.

Your use of the App is also subject to Apple's applicable terms, including the App Store Terms of Use and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, where relevant. In case of conflict between those and these Terms regarding the App's purchase or use, these Terms govern the relationship between you and us; Apple's terms govern your relationship with Apple.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Turkey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from or related to the App or these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Istanbul, Turkey, to the extent permitted by law.

Entire agreement: These Terms (together with our Privacy Policy and any in-app terms we expressly reference) constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App.

Severability: If any part of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

No waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not waive that right or provision.
