ReadPace: Speed Reading & RSVP

Privacy Policy

ReadPace keeps your library, reading history and training results on your device. It has no account, no analytics SDK and no advertising, and its privacy manifest declares no collected data types.

Overview

This privacy policy applies to the ReadPace app (the "Application") for iOS on iPhone and iPad, created by Cihat SALIK (the "Service Provider"). The Application is offered as a service and is intended for use "AS IS".

ReadPace is a speed-reading app and reading trainer for content you bring yourself: books, PDFs, documents and web articles. What you import, how fast you read it and how you score in training are created and kept on your device.

Your Library and Reading Data

Imported documents, their extracted text, your reading position, bookmarks, highlights, notes, session history, exercise results, goals, streaks and app preferences are stored locally on your device.

None of it is uploaded to the Service Provider's servers or to any third-party service. There is no account, so the Service Provider cannot see, retrieve or delete what you read. Text extraction, paced reading, every exercise and every score are computed on the device.

iCloud Sync

iCloud sync is off until you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, your library and reading data sync through your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, so the data stays between your devices and Apple. The Service Provider has no access to it and operates no server of its own. Turn sync off and the Application returns to a local store.

Camera and Photos

The camera is used only when you choose Scan Printed Pages, to recognise text from the page in front of you. Recognition runs on the device through Apple's Vision framework; the Application keeps the text and does not keep or send the camera frames.

To import an image you already have, you pick it through Apple's system photo picker. The picker hands the Application that one image and gives it no access to the rest of your library, so no photo-library permission is requested.

Web Article Import

When you paste a link or share a page to ReadPace, the Application fetches that page so it can extract the article text. Those requests go to the site you chose and are made with no cookies and no stored credentials. Only http and https addresses are accepted, requests to private, loopback and link-local hosts are refused, and redirects are re-checked against the same rules. The Application makes no other network requests of its own.

Notifications

Notifications are asked for only when you switch on a reading or training reminder, and they are scheduled locally on your device. There is no push server, so the Service Provider cannot send you a message and does not learn whether you opened one.

Analytics, Advertising, and Accounts

The Application contains no analytics or tracking SDK, no advertising and no third-party libraries at all — it is built on Apple frameworks only. Its privacy manifest declares no collected data types and no tracking, and lists the required-reason APIs it uses (app preferences, system uptime for timing a session, and file timestamps for your imported files), all for on-device functionality.

If analytics or similar tools are added in a future version, this policy will be updated to describe them before that version ships.

Purchases

ReadPace is free to download and read in. ReadPace Pro — unlimited paced reading, the full training curriculum, detailed progress, study tools, collections, iCloud sync and page scanning — is offered monthly, yearly with a free week, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Service Provider does not receive or store your payment card details. Apple's handling of purchases, renewals and restores is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy practices.

Your Rights Over Your Data

Because the data is on your device, you control it directly and neither export nor deletion is behind a purchase. Settings exports your library, sessions and exercise results as a JSON file you keep, lets you clear your reading history, and lets you delete everything the Application stores. Deleting the Application removes its data from the device; if iCloud sync was on, deleting inside the Application also removes the data from iCloud.

Copyright of Imported Material

You are responsible for having the right to read what you import. ReadPace detects DRM-protected EPUB files and refuses them, and it contains no code to remove copy protection from any file.

Children

The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through ReadPace. The Application stores everything on the device, requires no account and sends nothing to the Service Provider.

If you believe information was collected from a child inappropriately, contact the Service Provider at cihatsalik1@gmail.com.

Security

The security of your on-device library depends on your device passcode and biometric settings. The Service Provider recommends keeping iOS up to date and using the device security features offered by Apple.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page and the "Last updated" information where shown. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
